Who are geographers?

Geographers work in business, government and nonprofits leveraging data and fieldwork to understand a wide array of tasks. These may include the work needed to maintain the day-to-day functioning of energy, transportation and utilities infrastructures as well as critical issues related to emergency planning, disaster response and national security. Geographers explore the world through perspectives on space, place and landscape. They study spatial relations, meanings of place and placemaking in our lives. They employ scientific methods, concepts and theories of our social fabric while using state-of-the-art methods in digital data analysis, mapping and cartography.

We offer three thematic tracks for students aiming to earn a Geography BA or BS. Students wanting to focus their studies intensively on Mapping and GIS should pursue a BA or BS in Mapping and GIScience.
