Sophia Musoki
I have a background in food media (writing and photography). My work explores the spatiality of food and society. Specifically, I am interested in how the seemingly simple act of choosing what to eat is often grounded in complex interlocking global food systems and discourses. My work uses food as a medium to explore global power relations through the politics surrounding its production, supply chains, preparation, and consumption. My interests lie in the fields of political ecology, Black geographies, rural and agrarian studies, food geography, and feminist geographies. A portion of my work has been funded by the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS).
