This course focuses on basic spatial patterns of wealth and poverty and the global scale, comparing places and regions. Contemporary trends are identified and viewed in their historical context. Inequalities in access to basic human needs?food and water?are investigated through case studies drawn from around the world. The highly unequal world we live in raises serious questions of justice and sustainability, and these are considered in this course. Fulfills General Education requirements for Global Citizenship. Prereq: None.
